Middle Schools

Transformative environments for the transitional years

Middle Schools

Designing learning environments for the middle years requires a particular creativity amongst architects and educational planners. These spaces must be at once nurturing and sophisticated, resource-rich and operationally manageable to bridge students' primary and secondary education experiences. A time of transformation, middle school environments must transition between the self-contained world of elementary school to a world that inspires exploration both academically and personally. We enjoy the challenge and reward of designing of middle and junior high schools and place a strong priority on collaboration, vision and culture during the planning process. Our portfolio of middle schools has garnered praise from the American Institute of Architects, the Council for Educational Facility Planners, the Coalition for Adequate School Housing and the National School Boards Association.
