Ed Cordes leads Science +Technology for our Midwest region as well as our Houston office. Designing research and science environments that are efficient, sustainable and enjoyable places to work that allow scientists to achieve their goals is his passion. He has more than 20 years of experience in complex systems design including work for NASA, research laboratories and major universities. He is particularly experienced in vivarium design and biomedical laboratory design. Ed has been responsible for the design of more than 400,000 square feet of vivarium in the past eight years. His experience also includes the design of BSL-3 and BSL-4 biocontainment labs.
Ed is active in the Association of Independent Research Institutes (AIRI), American Biological Safety Association (ABSA) and AALAS (American Association of Laboratory Animal Science). He recently published articles in R&D, ALN and Lab Design Magazines as well as Academic Source Book on topics related to emerging lab trends and high performance lab systems. His work has been honored with awards such as the Lab of the Year, National Facility of the Year and the Turnkey Award. Ed is also a architectural peer reviewer for the National Institutes of Health.
