With close to 30 years of experience, Fred has established a reputation for innovation and leadership in design founded on his involvement in more than 250 healthcare and institutional projects. He co-founded Vermeulen Hind Architects in 1992, which joined to form Perkins+Will Canada in 2011. With his unique and varied experience in healthcare architecture, Fred leads the Healthcare market sector for the Ontario practice.

His strategic and master planning work for numerous hospital and cancer center campuses include the Ottawa Hospital Regional Cancer Centre, Hamilton Health Sciences Corporation, Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children and Grand River Regional Cancer Centre. Fred has worked closely with Cancer Care Ontario in developing leading edge, patient-focused oncology facilities. This relationship has resulted in his involvement in the design of eight regional cancer centers and more than 40 oncology related projects.

Fred received his Bachelor of Architecture in 1982 from Carleton University, Ottawa, graduating as a Royal Architectural Institute of Canada Medalist.
