Ila began her professional career with us after receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Agnes Scott College, a Diploma in History of Art and a Master of Arts in English Literature from Oxford University and a Master of Architecture from Princeton University. More than 25 years later, she is a principal based in our Atlanta office responsible for long-term care research and design with a passion to create spaces that convince their occupants they are loved and respected. She has completed a range of projects including continuing care retirement communities, independent and assisted living, skilled nursing, hospices and Alzheimer's care and hospices. Her clients include healthcare systems, universities/ faith-based/ nonprofit providers and for-profit developers of senior living.
Ila's work was featured in the 2000 Georgia Public Television documentary "Final Choices" produced in conjunction with Bill Moyer's national series "On Our Own Terms." Among Ila's honors are highest national recognitions from the AIA, The Caritas Project, Modern Healthcare, LeadingAge, Healthcare Environments and the NAHB. In 2010 Willson Hospice, a LEED Silver building, became the first healthcare facility in the world designated an Audubon International Silver Signature Sanctuary.
Ila's work has been published in many professional periodicals, among them Design for Aging Review Four, Six and Eleven; Design 2002, 2003, 2010 and 2011; Contract Magazine, Health Facilities Management Magazine, Medical Construction & Design and Commercial Building Products.
