150 North Michigan Avenue
Lobby Renovation
Chicago, Illinois
Completion Date: 2005

When this iconic property needed to improve street presence and tenant spaces, property manager Jones Lang LaSalle called upon our design team to raise the bar.

The diamond-shaped roof line topping 150 North Michigan Avenue is recognized internationally. The unique geometry and crisp white exterior distinctively punctuate the Michigan Avenue skyline. As a gateway to Millennium Park, the distinguished exterior of the building called for a complimentary lobby and exterior plaza.

Using simple forms, timeless materials and dramatic lighting, the building lobby was transformed. The renovation features a white circular desk, anchored by a floor-to-ceiling light fixture. Both elements are designed to create visual interest and support multi-functional activities including security monitoring, guest check-in and concierge services. Suspended by aircraft cable, a restored, woven metal sculpture by artist, Yaakov Agam, reflects the building’s renowned architectural features. Pedestrians enjoy the newly illuminated façade, clear building identity and signage. Elevator lobbies on upper floors were also improved to reinforce the design vocabulary from the lobby.
