To accommodate the needs of a growing membership and a diversified range of programs, the Architectural Institute of British Columbia (AIBC) purchased 440 Cambie Street with four development partners. The project revitalized Vancouver's Victory Square area and juxtaposed a stately 1910 heritage building and a crisp, contemporary design vocabulary.
In conjunction with Robert Lemon Architecture, we reinvented the building by converting it to Strata Titled office spaces. The AIBC occupies the first floor while their development partners occupy the second and third floors. The plan subdivides typical floor plates into a maximum of 10 strata office suites. Common facilities on each floor include washrooms, stairs, elevators and individual electrical metering and mechanical servicing.
Embodying many sustainable building principles, the project reinvents an important and elegant old structure and brings new life and activity to the neighborhood.
