When the NYU Stern School of Business decided to upgrade its facilities, the school enlisted Perkins+Will to unify its three architecturally differing buildings through a renovation of entry lobbies, connecting corridors, student activity spaces and classrooms.
Working in collaboration with Perkins+Will New York, the Branded Environments team utilized on-site observation, interviews, focus groups and "visual listening" sessions with students, professors and administrators to define brand, program and cultural attributes that would serve as the basis for new NYU Stern brand experiences and communications within the environment.
Supporting the new space is a bold brand strategy, imagery and communications system expressing NYU Stern's culture and fostering a vibrant academic community. Further, our design solution established new wayfinding signage and donor recognition systems throughout the facility. Energetic environmental graphics position Stern as a global hub for knowledge in the heart of the city— differentiating its diverse mix of programs, students and activities from competitors and allowing the school to emerge as a destination for learning, exploration and collaboration.
