Drew College Preparatory School
San Francisco, California
Completion date: 2001
Square footage: 42,000

Founded in 1908, Drew plays a prominent role in the education of high school students in San Francisco and has educated thousands of native San Franciscans as well as hundreds of international students. We worked with Drew to build a new facility on their existing campus that supports increasing enrollment and the future growth of its academic and extra-curricular programs.

Located in the heart of an architecturally diverse San Francisco neighborhood, the new building celebrates its urban context as well as the academic mission of the school. Phase 1 encompassed the addition of larger, technologically adapted classrooms, state-of-the-art science labs, a special teacher/student learning style resource center and more open space designed for teacher/student small group interaction. The library is located prominently on the third floor with large expanses of north light and a high, sculpted ceiling. In Phase 2, nearly 10,000 square feet of space was added for music, dance and the arts; a third science lab; seven new classrooms; more space for college counseling; and the resource center.
