HEALing Center Community Clinic

The HEALing Center is designed to provide care for an underserved population in southwest Atlanta. Housed at the City of Refuge complex, the program requires renovation and adaptive reuse of roughly 15,000 square feet of tenant space within a former warehouse structure. The clinic component includes exam rooms, procedure rooms, prep/recover space, general x-ray suite, pharmacy and optometry shop. The recuperative care component includes 22 dormitory style rooms for needy women and their children. Established to provide continuing medical education and minor ongoing treatment for patients recently discharged from the hospital, residents are permitted to stay for up to 60 days at the facility. The recuperative care rooms are located facing a series of new, interior courtyard gardens that provide natural daylight and greenery. Shared patient recreation and dining areas encourage a sense of community interaction.
