The Trans World Airlines Expansion and Redevelopment Program at JFK International Airport includes planning and design for the rehabilitation and modification of the architecturally significant Terminals A and B as well as a new concourse, expansion, Federal Inspection Services (FIS) facility, meeter/greeter lobby, new arrivals roadway and improvements to concessions, security and baggage handling.
Our design for the major public space features a glazed arc tying the meeter/greeter hall to the Passenger Distribution System (PDS) station in a multi-level space containing concessions. The sloping, glazed element provides a graceful spatial transition for connecting passengers while acting as a simple backdrop for Terminal A.
Additionally, a transparent arrivals hall engages the PDS station in the TWA Terminal and provides a dramatic spatial connection between the two ticketing halls. This multilevel space also contains concessions.
The Federal Inspection Services facility, meeter/greeter hall and arrivals roadway are depressed below the apron level to preserve the openness and views of the airfield from the existing Terminal A.
