The Emerging Technologies and Economic Development (ETED) building is the first major building to define the A&M Engineering quadrangle. ETED supports university engineering, allied teaching and research programs including the Dwight Look College of Engineering, which includes biomedical engineering, industrial & systems engineering, computational science & visualization and the Institute for Coastal & Deepwater Offshore Systems. The building program includes 240,000 square feet of offices, classrooms, faculty research labs (wet and dry), computer based teaching classrooms and a computer server room and a computational science and visualization area.
The facility provides a visual and functional entry to the campus and defines major pedestrian traffic axes. The aesthetic design embraces the master plan guidelines at Texas A&M and provides a modern, signature image for the Dwight Look College. Graduate research laboratories with modular casework allow rapid reconfiguration to support changing research needs.
The addition of this facility leverages the college's strengths and expertise across the university to elevate the College of Engineering’s multidisciplinary research and education, cited publications, intellectual property development, training in economic development and commercialization, entrepreneurship and technology deployment while increasing strategic alliances with corporate, public and non-profit partners.
