Tulane University undertook a housing master plan designed to improve the quality and quantity of student housing on their New Orleans campus. The Mayer Residences project is one component of this plan.

The building is sited to reinforce and create two important green spaces. The L-shaped structures frame and give closure to the south and west edges of the Warren Campus Quad and create an inner residential courtyard. Street façades are clad in brick, reinforcing the character of adjacent residential areas. The interior façade facing the campus is contemporary and transparent with balconies opening out to the courtyard.

The 248-bed residence promotes community with spaces centered around social lounges, kitchens, study lounges, upstairs patios and two top-floor sundecks. Other amenities include food service and auxiliary classroom space. Suites offer either two singles or two doubles sharing a bath with some rooms offering semi-shared balconies. Custom-built movable hardwood furniture is furnished in every room.
