We prepared the master plan and designed the School of Medicine Phase 3.1, part of the three-phase University of Washington campus in South Lake Union. Following a two-month study of the site researching applicable zoning restrictions and developing viable options for below-grade plans and above-grade massing, a scheme was selected that provides a clear connection to Phases 1 and 2. The project consists of three buildings, which may eventually be connected by sky bridges. The program contains a high percentage of wet lab space as well as a large below-grade vivarium.
