Founded 75 years ago, Grainger has spent three-quarters of a century helping its customers successfully complete their jobs by providing them with the right product at the right time with the right information. Of like minds, the company chose Perkins+Will to create a distinctive plan for its new corporate headquarters in Lake Forest, Illinois. An intricate, multi-phased complex was formulated. The first phase included 800,000 square feet with two office buildings and an atrium. The splaying geometry of this initial phase creates the organizational framework to foster cultural connectivity while accommodating future phases of the building. Well-placed food service areas, a wellness and fitness center, visitor's center, and employee development center continue to enhance a corporate culture that has become a Grainger hallmark.
